360 Youth Services is dedicated to helping youth make healthy choices and preventing youth substance use. Through highly recognized programs and initiatives – The Power of Choice, the Youth Advisory Committee, Youth Prevention Education, Naperville Operation Snowball, and Community Alliance for Prevention – 360 YS uses a variety of proven prevention strategies to best serve our mission and community to reduce youth substance use. 360 YS is funded by local, state, and federal grantors to provide evidence-based, best-practice substance use prevention for students and their parents in the geographic boundaries of the 203 & 204 school districts. These programs are supported through valuable partnerships with Naperville Community School District 203, Indian Prairie School District 204, and community partners.
Operation Snowball is fondly referred to as “Snowball”. It is a fun, engaging, and popular youth leadership development program. 360 Youth Services partners with Districts 203 & 204 to coordinate this teen-led and adult-supported program for area high school students. Teens develop leadership skills, build community and create a positive impact.
Power of Choice is a substance use prevention program that works with District 203 & 204 students, parents, and schools. Through posters, social media posts, classroom presentations, resources, and more, the initiative aims to increase the number of students making healthy choices regarding substance use while building resiliency and supporting overall wellness. Power of Choice’s programming is split into three communication campaigns that respectively work with and target:
360 Youth Services implements the Too Good For Drugs (TGFD) evidence-based drug education curriculum as the foundation of its school-based prevention work. TGFD is designed to reduce students’ intention to use alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs while promoting prosocial attitudes, skills, and behaviors. In addition to the TGFD model curriculum, our team provides classroom presentations on stress, vaping, and communication to further support students’ well-being. Together, these efforts build students’ self-confidence and strengthen the social and emotional learning skills shown to promote healthy choices, positive development, and academic success.
The Youth Advisory Committee is a diverse group of D203 & D204 high school students who develop leadership skills and make a positive impact on the community through implementing substance use prevention activities. They envision our community working together to support healthy choices so our community members can build healthy, safe and successful lives free of the challenges associated with substance use.
The Community Alliance for Prevention was founded by 360 Youth Services in October 2013 to strengthen our community in order to prevent and reduce youth substance use. The Alliance was developed to encourage the local community to organize for youth substance use prevention. The vision of the Alliance is our community proactively working together, using best-practice substance use prevention strategies, to promote community-level change that impacts our youth. Our community includes all those living and doing business within the geographic boundaries of 203 & 204 school districts.
