Men’s Health

  • Regular checkups are important Many men skip routine visits, but seeing a primary care provider helps catch health issues early and keeps you feeling your best.
  • Screenings save lives Blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes checks are recommended for most men, starting in early adulthood. Screening for colon cancer should begin at age 45, and abdominal aortic aneurysm screening is advised for men 65-75 who have ever smoked
  • Prostate and testicular health Routine screening for prostate cancer is recommended; discuss your personal risks and preferences with your provider. Testicular cancer is rare but most common in younger men—report any lumps or changes
  • Talk about sexual health Concerns like erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, and fertility are common and can be early signs of other health problems, including heart disease. Don’t hesitate to bring these up—your provider is ready to help
  • Mental health matters Depression, stress, and anxiety affect men too. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness
  • Healthy lifestyle choices make a difference Eating well, staying active, not smoking, and limiting alcohol can lower your risk for many diseases, including heart disease and cancer
  • Vaccinations protect you and others Stay up to date on recommended vaccines, including flu, tetanus, and HPV
  • Fertility and family planning If you’re thinking about having children, a semen analysis can provide insights into your overall health and help guide healthy lifestyle changes
  • Be proactive Most men prefer when providers start conversations about sensitive topics. Don’t wait for symptoms—ask questions and share concerns
  • Know your risks Family history, lifestyle, and certain behaviors can increase your risk for specific conditions. Discuss these with your provider to personalize your care.
