Dupage County, IL\u2013 To help ease the ongoing needs of Illinoisans created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) has awarded 360 Youth Services a $20,000 grant as part of BCBSIL\u2019s latest round of giving aimed at helping the helpers.<\/p>\n

COVID-19 has This grant will support our housing programs for young people aged 18-24 who are experiencing homelessness. Specifically, it will provide essential support for our transitional housing program for LGTBQ+ youth \u2013 one of only two in Illinois \u2013 and our new Youth Emergency Shelter launched this year in response to a huge increase in youth homelessness brought on by COVID-19.<\/p>\n

BCBSIL selected 175 organizations across Illinois with missions focused on access to care<\/u><\/strong>, hunger<\/u><\/strong>, shelter<\/u><\/strong> and behavioral health care<\/u><\/strong>, and COVID-19 health education and vaccine access<\/u><\/strong> to receive $20,000 grants as part of its COVID-19 Community Collaboration Fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cA year into the pandemic and the health, economic and social impacts around Illinois are still great,\u201d said Harmony Harrington, vice-president government and community relations for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to be able to help so many organizations increase their capacity to help more people receive the help they need.\u201d<\/p>\n
